PLUTO LNG PROJECT UPDATE - PILBARA PIPELINE
|
65% AND COUNTING
At 65% construction completion the Pluto LNG Project is rapidly taking shape and on track to reach an expected 85-90% construction completion by the end of the year, without compromising the health and safety of the team.
In late May the offshore team completed the installation of the 27km dual flow lines which will transport gas from the field to the offshore processing platform. Laying of the 180km trunkline between the platform and onshore facility is now underway with the trunkline being pulled to shore just last week.
Onshore, more than 115 modules for the LNG plant have arrived from Thailand and are being progressively installed on site. Other crucial equipment for the LNG plant including the main cryogenic heat exchangers and the first two power generation units have also been delivered.
Construction on the concrete roofs of the two LNG storage tanks is also underway and jetty works are ongoing.
With about 2,500 people now working across the construction site, the onshore facilities will continue to grow and first gas is expected in late 2010.
